A boy helped an elderly woman find her glasses in a supermarket. When the old woman saw that her mother had very little food to feed her family, she decided to help.
Juan and his three siblings were raised solely by their mother, Cynthia, in a small trailer after their father died of a heart attack.
Unfortunately for them, the woman earned very little money working as a seamstress and barely had enough to make ends meet.

Plus, Cynthia already had enough to worry about as a single mother to her three-year-old twin sons, Henry and Kevin, her five-year-old daughter, Ana, and her seven-year-old son, Juan.
Because of this, she could not take on additional jobs to supplement her income, even if she wanted to. As a result, she had no choice but to accept her fate and live a life of poverty.
Cynthia occasionally took the children to the nearby mall when they insisted on going out on the weekends, but it was only window shopping because they couldn’t afford anything.
One particular day, the mother and her little ones were in a supermarket buying the month’s supplies, when Juan walked into an aisle filled with boxes of cookies.
She was looking longingly at the different flavored biscuits her mother couldn’t buy her when she heard laughter in the next aisle.
The boy looked over and noticed a girl his age was filming his grandmother with her phone. “You look funny, grandma! How could you be so stupid and lose your glasses?” she said, laughing.
Juan noticed the older woman who kept bumping into the shelves. He felt bad for her and looked for his glasses, which he luckily found in the produce section.

The boy ran up to her and handed her the glasses back. “Here, ma’am,” he said, offering them to her, and the older woman quickly put them on.
“Thank you very much, dear,” said the old woman.
When her vision cleared, she looked at Juan and smiled warmly. “Thanks, little one,” she said again. “I’m so forgetful! I can’t see without them, but I lose them all the time! What’s your name?”
“I’m Juan, ma’am,” he replied before turning to the girl. “You shouldn’t film your grandmother like that. She could have gotten hurt!”
At that, the older woman smiled. “You are very wise, little one. By the way, my name is Margarita. Where are your parents?”
“Dad has become an angel. My mom, Cynthia, takes care of me alone. I came here with her and my three brothers… I think I should go, Mrs. Margarita. They must be looking for me!”
“How about you take me to your mother, Juan? I would like to thank her for raising a beautiful boy like you!”
“I’ll take you to her, please come with me,” the boy replied with a smile. Margarita followed him and, shortly after, Juan saw his mother at the ATM and ran towards her.

The older woman noticed that Cynthia’s basket was empty except for a packet of buns and canned beans, and knew that wouldn’t be enough for a family of five. From the mother’s tired eyes and pale skin, she could also tell that she worked very hard.
While thanking Cynthia, Margarita asked the poor woman if she needed help. The mother replied that she was fine, but her daughter Ana spoke up and Cynthia felt embarrassed.
“Mommy, can we ask her to buy us some mangoes and milk? She seems nice. She can help us because we don’t have enough money,” said the little girl, making her mother’s cheeks blush with embarrassment.

Margarita felt terrible for them and managed to get Cynthia’s address before she left. That night she couldn’t get the mother’s face and the needy eyes of her children out of her head, so she decided to help them.
The next day, she baked a cake, bought some fruits and groceries and headed to her mother’s address.
Unfortunately, it wasn’t until halfway through the trip that he realized he had boarded the wrong bus because he had lost his glasses on the way to the bus stop.
The old lady asked the driver to stop the bus and got off at a place. She later realized that there were no direct buses to Cynthia’s house.

The next bus was due to arrive six hours later. Margarita checked her bag, but there was no money to pay for a taxi. Having run out of options, she knew she would have to walk – and she did!
He walked five miles, asking passersby for directions along the way so he wouldn’t get lost. When he finally reached Cynthia’s trailer, he was panting heavily.
The mother panicked when she opened the door and saw the tired old lady. “Mrs. Margaret? Please come in, please!” she said worriedly, taking the older woman’s hand and leading her into the trailer.
He offered her some water. When the older woman calmed down, she said that she had brought them food, laughing as she told how she had gotten lost on the way.
“I’m glad I managed it somehow,” he added proudly, but Cynthia was worried.
“But it could have turned out much worse, ma’am!” he gently scolded her, and the older woman smiled. “I’m fine, honey. Your sweet boy helped me yesterday, so I wanted to do this.”
From that day on, Margarita and Cynthia became good friends. The poor mother was more than grateful to the old woman for her concern.
In addition, the older woman offered to help her take care of her children so that she could concentrate on her work more efficiently.

However, the most touching moment came when Juan gave Margarita a pair of second-hand glasses for her birthday with all the money he had saved over the years.
At that moment he said to her: “Now that you have spare glasses, Ms. Margarita, you don’t have to worry if you lose a pair.”
The old lady couldn’t help but smile at his innocence and hug him. “Thank you so much, Juan! This is the most thoughtful birthday present I have ever received,” she replied.
